Isis-the grand lady of 10,000 names. In ancient Egypt, Isis was a form of Great Mother protecting children, women and motherhood. She was Goddess of the underworld and the heavens and one of the earliest concepts of earth mother. One of her many roles was both the judge and protector of the dead. Isis was also connected to the star Sirius as the rising of Sirius coincided with the annual flooding of the Nile which guaranteed another year of abundance and wealth. This statue of Isis is a small figurine which can fit into the palm of a hand. It shows the wings of Isis in her role of protector.
